The Delaware Swedish Colonial Society (DSCS) was organized on March 29, 1940.

The Society designated two types of members:

  • General Members - Any person interested in the purposes of the Society may become a Member.

  • Colonial Members - Any person, may be designated a Colonial Member by furnishing to the registrar of the Society satisfactory proof of descent from one or more early Swedish ancestor(s).


  • To promote an understanding and appreciation of Swedish culture and traditions.

  • To foster good relations between the peoples of the United States of America and Sweden.

  • To commemorate each year on or about March 29h the landing of the Swedish settlers at "The Rocks," in For Christina Park, Wilmington, Delaware.  and,

  • To collect, preserve and publish records, documents and other material relating to the history of Swedish settlements in America
